Tucson Festival of Books

Join David Maraniss for two conversations during the Tucson Festival of Books.
A 40-Year Search for Truth: My Life in Books and Newspapers
Arizona Daily Star Tent
10:00 am – 11:00 am

David Maraniss has spent the last three years researching a book about the McCarthy Red Scare era and contemplating the echoes from then to today under a president once tutored by Roy Cohn, who long ago had been Joe McCarthy’s right hand man. Those two eras will serve as the bookends of the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer’s discussion of his 40-plus year search for truth in his books and newspaper articles.

Can Truth Survive Fake News?
Student Union Gallagher Theater
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Facts are facts … aren’t they? Rick Wilson, David McCraw and Nina Burleigh will weigh in on “alternate truths” and ponder why so many Americans now believe whatever they hear — as long as it fits their own personal narrative. Leading the conversation will be David Maraniss.
